The mechanical parts and technical features of a patient lift are impressive. In practice though, the lifting sling and the sling bar are equally important, both for safety and comfort in every lifting situation. It’s a bit like buying a car; the shiny chrome on the outside says nothing about how well you sit inside the car.
The design and the material of the slings are decisive for the type of lifting that can be done. Everyday lifting between bed and chair, for example, requires a different fabric than what is needed for lifting in connection with showering and bathing. A sling should also be simple, easy to work with and durable.
